Camaraderie

What is nearly as  important as the adventure itself?  Recounting your tales (also know as telling lies...) among your friends with similar interests!

Discuss your gear configuration, secret waters, the one that got away, or the perfect trail over morning coffee or around the outpost fire bowl.

convenience for gear-intensive sports

Adventure requires stuff.  Have your ever tried going on a fishing trip while staying at a chain hotel?  Carrying gear through hallways and stairwells is NOT part of the adventure.  Does your boat feel safe in the parking hotel parking lot?  Where can your wetsuit drip dry?  Do you need space to sort out gear and charge batteries?

Superior Adventures Outpost understands gear!  We know that gear is expensive and should be kept safe.  Your SAO cabin has a secure locker that can be accessed from inside or out. In addition, you may request access to the on property pole building if you really have toys! A chain hotel simply cannot cater to gear-intensive sports.

location, location, location

SAO is conveniently located between Sault St. Marie and St. Ignace and splits the difference between Detour and Paradise. This means that the Soo Locks and Brimley are within a 30 minute drive.  Go slightly farther to see the freighters of DeTour passage, the historic tahquamenon falls, and the famous trout waters of the two-hearted river.   Visit Soo Canada or ski at Searchmont.  These are quick adventure trips that will still allow you to share an evening two-hearted ale around the campfire upon returning.

wilderness solitude

In addition to outdoor adventures and historic sites, what draws us to the UP?  That woodsy remote feel!  Quiet, solitude, nature, and the out-of-doors are our business.  There are many places to stay in the UP,  but few provide the right combination of wildness with modern comforts (Can you live without internet? We have it!).  If, by chance, the civilization bug hits you, we are minutes away from modern resources (but chances are you are here to get away from cement, lights, and artificial sounds).
